Home Sweet Iowa

Well, here is the moment most of you have been waiting for. Update and pictures. Mid May Benjamin was offered a job on a ranch by Denison, Iowa...so we moved. Right now we live in town (quite an adjustment to the 40 acres we were "used" too), but we are in the process of locating a "country" house.

Our current house is nice, for in town. It's a bi-level: downstairs consists of laundry room, bar/family room area, upstairs is living room, dining/kitchen, master bed/bath, 2 bedrooms. The yard is large for in town.. We LOVE the fence around it, the kids love the rocks and split level they can climb on. Another new joy for them... CHECKING THE MAIL. Benji asks ALL day to check it, and if there's nothing, it means that the mail truck hasn't come yet, so we need to go out later.

The kids have adjusted quite well. (This past week we were in WI, so we'll see how they adjust going back;) We've been welcomed so warmly by the workers and friends. Although the faces are different, it seems like we're back at home. The whole "Iowa" thing came about in an unusual way. Yet it all fell into place, and we were reassured we couldn't have picked a better spot to plant ourselves.

For the time being we are keeping our WI address, just having mail sent out to us, as we are hoping to relocate soon. If you need to get in touch, you can reach my parents, or Ben's parents, both know how to reach us :) Ben enjoys working on the ranch. I should know how many cattle he runs, but I don't... It's a couple hundred feeders, plus more... (No dairy cows for those wondering) He stays busy during the day... but we all LOVE having him come home for supper!! That is something we rarely had when he was trucking. We "exploring" the little town, finding parks, lakes, etc..

We will not have a computer in Iowa, so updates won't be too often. But while we're back in WI, I'll try to catch up!!

Fishing

This weekend we went to a little lake nearby. The kids had a blast fishing. Benji is a little pro.. he caught a few all by himself, which makes him EXTREMLY proud. He already tells fish stories. Daddy asked him if it was a big fish, "Well, I think it was a small fish, but no,actually it looks like a big fish."

John Henry: 8 mos

Wow, another month has flown by. John is already 8 months old. He is getting 4 teeth (the 2 top & the 2 bottom) at the same time. This morning I noticed all 4 have just cut through the gums. He hasn't been too cranky, but he shoves EVERYTHING in his mouth. Saturday he did the inch worm crawl (pushed his butt in the air, then pulled himself forward using his arms and pushing his legs) Not technically a crawl, but a start. He isn't too interested in baby food, he much rather prefers to eat table food ground up. Still a content & happy boy!

Goats, Goats and more Goats

Another great day... so we went over to Aunt Tanya's. They have 12 - 13 baby goats. The kids had a blast playing in the pen with them. The goats didn't seem to mind all the "love & attention" they got from 7 little kids :)

Outside..finally

We're finally getting nicer weather. We took advantage of the warm, sunny (windy) day to have a picnic outside! All the kids love to run & play outside. It's predicted to storm & cool off, so we enjoy it when we can!

Giddy Up

Benji is a little cowboy. He eat, sleeps and plays cowboy! He loves to tie up the bouncy horse, then rides away. The picture of the horse upside down is the day Benji decided "turn the livingroom upside down" (his exact words). So everything eventually got dumped out, or tipped over. He had waay more fun "turning the room upside down" than turning it back over :)
