2000 miles ago

Daddy had a tour lined up in eastern Canada.  Plans changed a few times.  In the end, John and me went along with him.  The other 3 kids stayed behind with Grandpa & Grandma.  It was by far the longest and furthest we've ever been from (most of) our kids.  To say we missed them is a huge understatement.  We're all glad to be back.  Safe and sound.  Together.

Alittle over 2000 miles later, we reached our destination.  The Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia.  The promotion company responsible for arranging the tour, found us a campground right on the ocean, with a camper fully equipped.  We couldn't have asked for better accommodations.

The majority of the Altantic coast is rocky.  John was glad he had his mud boots along.  They made it easier to walk along the rocky shore. Plus.. the sharks couldn't see his feet because he was wearing camo.  (smile)

Pardon me while I brag for a moment.  Mr. John did absolutly amazing on the trip.  We had a little over 2000 miles to travel (one way).  He travelled like a pro.  Rarely complained and took everything in stride.  We met quite a few people, who he promptly won over and charmed.  We went to a few of Daddy's shows, but we spent quite a bit of time at the campground.  He loved, loved the ocean and spent alot of time playing in it.  I'll narrow down my selection of pictures to just a handful and get them shared.

Silly-Willy

Yesterday morning we were all sitting down eating breakfast.  Carolyn pips up:  I have a joke to tell you!  "I used to work in the folding department, but then the department folded!!"

We busted up laughing.  No clue where she picked this one up.   But it was hilarious!

Wagon's West

In June we headed west with my inlaws for a vacation.  It just so happened that 2 kids got sick during our trip, making us rearrange our agenda.  One was sick in the beginning, the other was sick for the tail end of the trip.  So luckily each kid enjoyed some part of the trip.

  Despite tending to sick kids, I managed to snap my fair share of pictures.  I only chose a very small amount of pictures to share on here.  Our trip in a nutshell:

We made a quick stop at the 1880 town in South Dakota.  The kids really enjoyed it.  They love all things pertaining to the old west.   We also camped in the Black Hills area for a night.

 We saw Devils Tower, WY

 We camped along the East Rosebud River.  (Montana)  This was our view from our campsite.  Gorgeous.  I can still hear the river and smell the air.

The guys (and Carolyn) spent quite a bit of time wading right in the river and fishing.  We enjoyed some yummy meals of fresh trout!  The ice had just melted off the lake, were the river originates from, not too long before we arrived.  So the water was quite cold.  Not at all ideal for swimming.  But the kids braved wading one hot afternoon.   In very small doses.

We spent the majority of our time camping.  The weather cooperated for the most part.  A little rain the first night.  A few days got pretty warm, but the nights cooled off.

 While the guys went fishing one day, my mil, myself and kids hiked up a mountain trail to see these falls.  (one mile)  The view at the end made the hike on a small, rocky, uphill path worthwhile.
