A hunting we will go went

I bet most people thought hunting season was over.  But... it isn'tI should be glad that the season isn't as long as it is out west.  Either way, it puts meat in our freezers.  So no major complaints here.  Our hunting crew (Boppa, Gma, Daddy, Joe) brought in quite a few deer (and a few nice bucks- maybe 4-5?).  I haven't heard the offical count.  But judging by the meat in the freezer... it was enough until next year! :)

Katie and her kitty
Watching Daddy clean out his buck.  (Daddy brags about how fast he can gut a deer.  Under 60 seconds for sure.  If it were me.. I wouldn't brag about being the fastest, I'd try to be the slowest.. then I'd get out of the job.  Difference between husband and wife I guess :)  John was as close as he could get, saying: 'Ouch!' 'Yuck!'.  Never leaving Daddy's side.  Silly kid!  (If you look closely, you'll see him holding onto his trains.. That boy NEVER is without a train, or two, or four)
Daddy's buck - these 2 boys have buck-fever pretty bad.  It won't be long and they'll be right there with the big boys.

Impressive! I wish I had that tasty venison in MY freezer!

I assume you have a variety of recipes for venison and I hope your family likes venison. We were never big on it, preferred having it made into sausage.

The male portion of our household was impressed:-)I love the enthusiastic expressions on the "future" hunters:-)

Great you got some deer! I've heard so many people this year didn't get any. Damon included but he could only go out for one day.

I should say that you will have meat in the freezer for some time. Reminds me of when I was little...came from a hunting family too.

The boys watched so eagerly when they were little...which is why they get to do all the gutting and Mom has yet to gut a deer!! 36 years of hunting and I've never had to nor will I ever....love shooting them, though. Yep! We're gonna have lots of new help coming up. :)

Bleah. You hunters wives have my sympathy and my admiration. I didn't marry a hunter so I can't/don't have to pretend to share in the joy of the hunt. My hubby has got two deer with our vans this year... does that count?
