Copy Cat

I got this idea from my cousin, Melissa (hope you don't mind me copying you Mel). Although I think most wives/mothers ALL run into this problem at sometime. The same meals week after week, month after month. Luckily, my husband and kids LOVE what we eat and don't complain.. but something new would be wonderful! So here's where you come in... share your favorite family recipe(s).. They might be old and boring for you, but I'm hoping, they'll become our new family favorite!

Now to get on with my day....
  • bake our gingerbread cookies (to decorate tonight)
  • do laundry (and fold the 2 baskets that have been laying around since Sat)
  • mop floors (since John & Katie made a "syrup lake"in the kitchen )
  • make bread (how I love bread machines ;)
  • quick clean of the bathroom/living room
  • make holiday treats

We'll see what ACTUALLY gets done ;)

Here's our 'staples' to weeknight supper:

*Chicken Deluxe (Krisher family cookbook)over rice
*Baked Macaroni w/ sausage
*Meatloaf w/ mashed potatoes
*Corn chowder w/ ham
*Breakfast for supper (of some variation...scrambled eggs & bacon, pancakes, waffles, plettas, etc)
*Stuffed Shells

Stuff like that...it's all very good stuff, but gets old to eat time and time again with little to no variation! Luck you to have a breadmaker! Although I don't have any extra cupboard room to store one...

I know you've got some of our "family favorites" already, but here's a few other favorites
~BBQ meatballs--we're having these tonight, really good (I think so at least;)
~Chicken dumpling soup
~chili
~French dip sandwiches (fast & easy)
~BBQ chicken burritos
That's all I can think of right now...I know we've talked about it before, we should really just exchange cookbooks/recipe box sometime!

Hmmm, let's see what I can come up with...
~Chinese Chicken Fried Rice
~venison balogna
~chicken breasts and Rice A Roni
~meatballs
~homemade pizza
~chicken noodle soup
~Hamburger Corn Noodle Casserole
1 lb. hamb
1 can corn/1-2 cups frozen corn
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1-2 cups uncooked noodles, cooked
salt and pepper
Cook hamb. Cook noodles. Mix all ings. together. Cook 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. **Can substitute potatoes for noodles

I look on http://allrecipes.com/Default.aspx for a lot of my recipes.

I've thought about doing a blog with some of the recipes of the meals we eat.

This is a good idea...cole isn't picky either but I always get the same response of "I don't know" and it drives me crazy :) I keep saying I'm going to sit down and plan a whole week of meals. Never happens. Tonight ended up being spaghetti because after getting home from work at 5:30 and asking for a half hour what everyone wanted...well that's just what they got :)
Tell everyone to leave the recipes too... :D

Last week when Shaun had a day off I froze a bunch of meals- Love knowing there is something in the freezer if I'm having a day that I feel uninspired to cook. I froze lasagna, meatloaf, stuffed shells, enchildadas and another mexican dish I kind of made up. To make it- Mix enchilada sauce (I usually use an envelope mix with a 14oz can of tomato sauce even though the mix says an 8 oz can) and 1 lb browned hamburger together. Put about 1/2 cup in bottom of 9x13 pan- layer corn tortillas to cover it all-break them up and piece them into corners. Than put 1/2 of the hamburger mix on top, 1/2 bag of frozen corn, and cheese. Repeat and bake until bubbly-- it is either good our my friends are to nice to say it isn't when I make it :) Goes well with sour cream, chips and salsa. Sometimes I add onions, or black beans depending on what's in the house. Anyway hope my directions make sense.
